Since 2010, I have been an enthusiast for online education. Despite its drawbacks, online education is the best way to bring down the exorbitant cost of education, both in the US and around the world, and to fulfill the promise of higher education to disseminate knowledge across the globe.
Based on these convictions, I have developed a MOOC, Masterpieces of World Literature (as well as two shorter versions: Epics of the Ancient World and Fictions of the Modern World) and Culture of Capitalism (see below).
I am also serving as the faculty advisor in online education for Harvard's Vice Provost of Advances in Learning, where I help devise online strategy and course development across the university. As part of this work, I participated in Harvard's Future of Teaching task force, which produced a white paper on online education.
As part of this ongoing work in online education, I am developing an AI-proof course in critical thinking and writing for Harvard's new online platform and am experimenting with customized GPTs that allow you to converse with philosophers based on their own words and ideas.
